Part 3
What's Next for Rocking R… Colorado to Nebraska CATTLE ARE THE HEART OF A RANCH The future is bright for Rocking R Red Angus. Our Nebraska ranch will allow us to expand our cow herd due to the increase in grazing capacity. The topography throughout the ranch is significant. Steep, rocky terrain best describes the Wildcat Hills portion of the ranch. Our cows will be challenged due to the environment. They will be expected to breed on time and raise high quality calves in order to earn their place in the herd. Our ranch will also allow us to develop our bulls and heifers on site. The feeding facilities here on the ranch can handle all of our weaned calves. We can develop our yearling cattle ourselves, which is very important to us. Quality control is critical for any business. Being able to observe our yearling bulls and heifers every day during their development process will help create a better product for our customers. Evaluations and culling decisions will be a daily task, which will help to deliver higher quality animals at that end of the process. We know many of you are wondering why we are not having a Spring Bull Sale. To be honest, we just could not make it happen this year. Moving an entire cattle operation has been a monumental task. The time and energy it takes to put on a bull sale is significant. Gathering and submitting the data for all of the bulls is extremely time consuming. Clipping, photographing, testing, designing a catalog, and all of the miscellaneous tasks takes an enormous amount of time. There was no way we could organize a bull sale and move our business at the same time. Therefore, we made the decision to focus all of our attention on moving our operation and keeping our cattle nutritionally sound and healthy. What about all of our yearling bulls? What are we going to do with them since we are not having a spring sale? We are excited to announce that we will be holding a Fall 2024 Production Sale. We will be offering Age Advantaged Bulls (coming 2 year olds) along with Registered Bred Heifers and Registered Bred Cows. This will be a great opportunity to invest in Rocking R Red Angus genetics with the purchase of bulls and/or females. We have a lot of details to work out for this sale. Our plan is to have the sale at our Nebraska ranch and cattle will be able to be viewed at our on-site facilities. Customers will have the opportunity to tour our ranch and facilities and also view our entire cow herd along with the cattle we are offering for sale. We feel that this will be a great opportunity for you to get to know our operation and our cattle. Again, many more details to come regarding our Fall 2024 Production Sale. The last few weeks have been absolutely crazy! But, our cattle have done extremely well during this transition. Calves have maintained their health. Cows have maintained their condition and have continued caring for their calves. Our late calving cows are calving well with healthy calves with good vigor. The cattle are definitely settling in, which is a testament to their resilience. We are proud of our cow herd through the move from Colorado to Nebraska. We are looking forward to a successful breeding season and a highly productive grazing season in the Wildcat Hills of Western Nebraska. Stay tuned for many more updates now that we are settling in to our new ranch. We are very excited about our upcoming Fall Production Sale and will continue to update everyone as we gather more details.
